MPG appoints Durden as creative partner

Jonathan Durden, one of the founders of Phd, is joining MPG as a creative partner. The move sees him return to media after a gap of two years.

Durden, who will work with the agency on a part time basis, will have a brief to develop its creativity for clients.

The agency says MPG chief executive Marc Mendoza has brought in Durden to “challenge” MPG’s planners. Durden has previously worked with Mendoza during the Eighties when the pair were in the media department of WCRS.

Since leaving Phd in 2007, Durden has been working as a partner at Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy and has also published his debut novel, Essex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll. In 2007, Durden had a stint as a housemate on Big Brother 8.

Mendoza says: “We are taking this step from a position of confidence in a team who are the most experience and senior in the market.” He adds that Durden will off “a fresh perspective”.

It is understood that he will retain a non-executive part time role at MCBD..
