MPG boss nets Chanel media post

Luxury goods brand Chanel has appointed Priscilla Rogan, director of press buying at media agency MPG UK, as director of media. She will replace Olga Esteban who, it is understood, is leaving the company, although it is not clear whether she has a job to go to.

Rogan will report to Chanel managing director Olivier Nicolay and will work alongside marketing director, Dominic De Vetta. As director of media, Rogan will be responsible for co-ordinating Chanel’s media planning and buying and will join the company at the start of next year. Chanel uses Mediaedge:CIA for media planning and buying and it is not known if Rogan has plans to review the agency.

Rogan, who has worked on brands such as Gucci for MPG, was previously press director at Mediapolis before it was rebranded as Media Planning Group in 2000. She moved to Mediapolis when it was merged with the media arm of WCRS, where she was deputy media director, in 1997.

Chanel is supporting its Chanel No.5 fragrance with a new advertisement which has been written and directed by Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann and stars Nicole Kidman. The three-minute execution, which cost 18m to make, shows Kidman trying to escape the paparazzi by jumping into a cab that is already occupied by a handsome man. They spend the night together before she has to return to her life as a celebrity and he is left to remember her by her perfume.
