Multiyork rethinks 2.5m business

Multiyork, the quality furniture manufacturer and retailer, is understood to be reviewing its £2.5m creative business.

The account is currently handled by Ware Anthony Rust (WAR). The Cambridge-based agency is understood to have been invited to repitch for the work. Multiyork marketing director Sarah Herbert is overseeing the process.

The media planning and buying account, which has been handled by Walker Media since 2004, is not thought to be affected by the review. No one at either the incumbent agency or Multiyork would confirm that a pitch is taking place.

In the past, the retailer has focused on direct mail, direct response TV and radio campaigns alongside work for seasonal initiatives such as winter sales. In 2004, the agency was also responsible for overhauling Multiyork’s identity, including in-store and point-of-sale executions. Parts of the campaign were devised in conjunction with Circle Design.

The company employs about 600 people nationwide, and is based in Thetford, Norfolk. It builds and sells sofas, cabinet furniture and accessories on a tailor-made basis. Its products are available to buy in-store at 61 outlets across the country, but because of the bespoke service it does not sell items online.

Customers of Multiyork, which is a member of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, can choose from 10,000 fabric or leather coverings.

Multiyork has denied it is seeking to switch its £2.5m business out of WAR.
