MySpace launches music channel to promote new bands

MySpace is launching an online music video channel that will combine live gig footage with interviews and profiles to promote new bands. Earwig TV will aggregate content from across the site to help artists find new fans and attract attention from record companies.

The social networking site says Earwig TV, which launches this week, will mark the first time that consumers and A&Rs will have access to musical talent on the site in one profile. There will be 11 new bands included on the profile at launch.

MySpace will also promote video content from the profile across the site. The profile will also be supported with a site-wide promotional campaign including banners and music home page promotion.

MySpace UK marketing and content director, Dom Cook, says: “MySpace is already the home of music so the launch of Earwig TV is a natural next step in exposing the next generation of stars to our 10 million unique users.”
