MySpace’s Stevens joins ad targeting specialist

Jay Stevens, the former VP of European operations at MySpace, has joined online ad targeting specialist The Rubicon Project.

He was most recently senior VP of audience at MySpace and will be VP and general manager international of Rubicon Project, to drive the US-based ad network company’s international expansion.

Stevens was MySpace’s first international hire, setting up the European operation in 2006.

The Rubicon Project sells proprietary ad targeting systems that enable publishers to monetise unsold inventory. It claims to benefit ad networks, which it says account for 44% of UK online display, by providing greater reach and targeting.

Stevens said, “The online ad industry is maturing and shifting to third-party sales channels, so ad networks are becoming an increasingly prevalent and relevant part of the mix.

“Display is on the upswing, brands are moving more money online, and publishers are looking for more efficient monetisation strategies to squeeze as much revenue as possible from every last impression.” he added.
