    Connecting with customers on a more intimate level seems to be one of the greatest trends in current marketing by most companies. Social media has created the demand for immediate and personal response from even the largest companies. PR firms and departments connect personally with customers to strengthen brand-customer relationships as well as brand loyalty and overall perception. In addition to solving issues, companies rely on social media for exposure of their marketing efforts. Like the article states, “Fans are enthusiastic about their brand and people who are enthusiastic, who understand the brand and love it and live it, are convincing messengers.” Today, customers are very skeptical of the messages companies are relaying to them, and rely heavily on word of mouth and referral from peers when considering new brands/products. Enthusiastic customers will share positive brand experiences with others, both on social media and within their personal circles, spreading the brand message with no direct cost to the company.
