NatMag chief takes top Hearst role

Duncan Edwards, chief executive of the National Magazine Company, has been promoted to president and chief executive of Hearst Magazines International. He replaces George J Green, who is retiring at the end of June.

At the same time, Edwards has also been appointed as executive vice chairman of Hearst Magazines and vice chairman of NatMag. He takes over his new role on February 1 and will relocate to New York this summer.

Hearst International includes all of the Hearst Magazines’ non-US and non-UK businesses and, following this change, will also include NatMag, its principal business in the UK.

Edwards will continue to lead magazine distribution company Comag as chief executive and chairman until a new chief executive of NatMag is appointed. He has been chief executive of the division since 2005 but has been with the company since 1989.

NatMag publishes 19 magazines in the UK including Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Good Housekeeping. Hearst Digital includes UK portal handbag.com and netdoctor.co.uk.
