Nestlé is recalling its Kit Kat Chunky bars including its Peanut Butter range after several people found plastic in some of the bars.

The chocolate maker is recalling its Peanut Butter, Hazelnut, Chocolate Fudge and Caramel flavours predominantly sold in the UK. Kit Kat Chunky giant chocolate eggs are also being taken back.

Nestlé says the precautionary measure aims to “avoid any risk whatsoever to our consumers” and has launched a Twitter campaign to allay concerns over widespread the incident is. It is telling followers that “only a small amount [of bars] are affected” and directing all to its website for more information.

In a statement the company adds: “The safety and quality of our products are non-negotiable priorities for the company. We sincerely apologise to our consumers for any inconvenience caused by this voluntary recall.”

The incident comes just weeks after the Kit Kat Chunky brand’s high-profile ‘Choose a Chunky Champion’ campaign ended with a new mint variant being added to its permanent lineup.
