Jonathan%20RamSportswear brand New Balance has promoted Jonathan Ram to managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) following the departure of Alistair Cameron earlier this month.

Ram, who is currently international business manager, will take over the role on April 1. He will be responsible for developing and marketing the brand across the EMEA region. He will work alongside European marketing director Eve Davies.

He has been tasked with doubling the brand’s market share in the region every three years, and building sales of £3bn in the next five years.

His appointment follows the departure of Cameron earlier this month after seven years at the company, as revealed on marketingweek.co.uk. During his tenure, Cameron spearheaded a repositioning of New Balance as a lifestyle brand as well as a performance sportswear company. He also doubled its marketing spend to £2m (MW July 8, 2004).

Ram was previously responsible for the brand in the Latin American region as well as global marketing and apparel initiatives. He has been with New Balance for over five years in a variety of roles including general manager and national sales manager for its Canadian business.

Ram has previously held various marketing and sales management roles within a number of US sports companies, including the National Basketball Association and major league baseball properties.
