New campaign – Magners Irish Cider

Media Planning Group has claimed a media first with a 96 sheet poster ad for Magners Irish Cider which showers passers-by with real apple blossom every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm.

The poster goes up on a prime site on the Talgarth Road leading into London this Saturday, and is in place for nine days. It follows last month’s takeover of Waterloo Underground station by Magners, with escalator posters using the apple blossom theme. Meanwhile, Scottish & Newcastle is bringing its Bulmers Original premium cider to the UK mainland from Northern Ireland to compete head on with Magners, which is owned by Irish food and beverage company C&C. Magners’ aggressive advertising has made it a major threat to S&N’s cider brands, but has also helped build the cider market significantly.
