News Int parts company with Jeremy Schwartz
News International’s recently appointed chief marketing officer Jeremy Schwartz has decided to leave the company.
As part of the ongoing review of the marketing team, the marketing director for The Times and The Sunday Times and the marketing director for The Sun and News of the World will report direct to chief executive Rebekah Brooks.
Brooks (pictured), recently editor of The Sun, says: “I am sorry to lose Jeremy. We have made a commitment to marketing our core titles in the past year which is delivering real results. Jeremy has made a valuable contribution to this.”
Alex Lewis joins as marketing director for The Times and The Sunday Times later this month. Kathy McAllister is responsible for marketing for The Sun and News of the World on an interim basis while the company recruits a new marketing director for the titles.
Jeremy will assist to ensure a smooth transition.
Schwartz was appointed in January and at the same time marketing director for The Sun Roland Agambar left to join Associated Newspapers.
The role was created in June last year when James Murdoch, Europe and Asia chairman and chief executive of parent company News Corporation, merged the top commercial, marketing and managing operations of News Group Newspapers and Times Media divisions.
Schwartz is a former L’Oreal and Sainsbury’s marketer.
