Nintendo 3DS UK launch date and partners revealed

Nintendo has partnered with brands including Sky and Eurosport to launch its new 3D handheld console in the UK and Europe.

Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS, which launches in the UK and Europe on 25 March, allows users to view 3D images without the need for glasses and includes a camera and a system which allows users to connect with other nearby 3DSs.

Sky and Eurosport will supply 3D short-form content and sports footage for the console to boost awareness of their 3D offerings.

Aardman Animations will create exclusive 3D Shaun the Sheep short films.

In addition, Nintendo is also in discussions with BT about supporting the system by opening up its Wi-Fi hotspots for 3DS users.

The DS and Wii consoles helped reverse Nintendo’s fortunes after poor sales of its Gamecube.

The 3DS console, which is the successor to the Nintentos DS, is expected to be priced between £220 and £250.

HMV says it will offer the 3DS at £229.99.
