Nokia promotes John Nichols to UK marketing director

Nokia has promoted its head of trade and customer marketing, John Nichols, to the role of head of marketing for Nokia UK and Ireland

Nichols has been looking after the role on an interim basis following the departure of Nokia’s UK marketing director, Will Harris. His official job title will be head of marketing and go to market for Nokia UK and Ireland.

Recent deals brokered by Nichols include a partnership with b@TV to create a bespoke application to allow X6 handset owners live streaming from the b@TV website.

Harris left the position he held for three years earlier this year to take on a broader remit as marketing director for Nokia Asia, based in Singapore.

Nichols is a former Woolworths head of commercial marketing. He says: “It’s an exciting time to be leading Nokia’s marketing plan and consumer engagement in the UK. We have a great line-up of consumer activity ahead this year with Ovi Maps, multi big brand partnership apps coming to the Ovi Store and a number of great new devices hitting the market.”

In his new role, he will report to Mark Loughran, managing director of Nokia UK and Ireland.
