Northcliffe to launch 45 new websites

Northcliffe Media is launching 45 new websites tomorrow as part of its strategy to boost its online presence. The move will bring its total number of sites to 151.

A majority of the new sites will be launched under its “This is” brand, which offer local content to users. It will include sites servicing areas in Nottingham previously catered by the umbrella website ThisisNottingham.co.uk site, created to run alongside the Nottingham Evening Post.

It is believed that the regional publisher, owned by the Daily Mail & General Trust, will look to launch more local sites over the next six months.

Last month, Sean Mahon, director of marketing, announced an expansion of the group’s marketing team with the creation of two new roles (MW August 7).

Northcliffe is looking to hire a trade marketing specialist, who will oversee display and classifieds advertising, and deal directly with advertisers and agencies.

The second position will include responsibility for web analytics and insight, created to beef up the publisher’s understanding of the digital sector.
