Northern Rock ad boss leaves
David Henderson, director of advertising at state-owned bank Northern Rock has left the firm after 30 years. It is not known whether he has a job to go to.
A spokeswoman for Northern Rock says Henderson’s departure is by “mutual agreement” and no decision has been made on any future appointment.
She adds that Henderson’s duties will be split between product director Lloyd Cochrane, who take over responsibility for advertising and Anthony Mooney, head of retail banking.
The nationalised bank has scaled back its marketing activity since being taken under state control last February.
Earlier this year, it announced plans to split its business into separate divisions and grow its mortgage business with the Treasury keen for the bank to increase its mortgage lending by up to £14bn over the next two years, subject to European approval.
There are no immediate plans to launch any campaigns for the new mortgage business.
The bank continues to be the primary sponsor of both Newcastle United and the Newcastle Falcons rugby union club.
