Norwich & Peterborough building society is seeking its first board-level marketer.

The company has created the post of sales and marketing director to oversee marketing for its 59 branches across the East of England.

The remit of the job is to create a marketing strategy and build brand awareness of the building society.

The sales and marketing director will report to chief executive Matthew Bullock and will work from the company’s head office in Peterborough. Norwich & Peterborough head of marketing Jackie McCulloch’s role will not be directly affected.

Norwich & Peterborough offers the traditional range of financial products, including mortgages, savings accounts, insurance, personal loans and share dealing.

The building society claims to be committed to the environment. It has various schemes such as its “green” mortgage, where it promises to plant 40 trees over a five-year period on behalf of the mortgage holder.

The building society employs 900 people, including about 560 across the branch network. The company has only 15 cash machines, but is part of the Link network. It was formed when the Peterborough and Norwich building societies merged in 1986. It has assets of &£2.5bn.
