Npower and Homeserve team up to provide installation and home policies services

npower.gifNpower is extending its relationship with Homeserve to take on British Gas in the home installation and services sector. Npower has bought Homeserve’s heating services arm and signed a ten-year partnership deal with the company to co-market a range of policies for the home.

The acquisition of Homeserve Heating Services – formerly Servowarm – sees Npower take on 200 employees, including engineers, management and support staff. The Homeserve fleet will be rebranded as Npower Hometeam – Npower’s existing central heating and installation business – with immediate effect.

Npower says it wants to make Hometeam a real alternative to British Gas and Npower Residential managing director Kevin Miles adds: “Growth in energy services is a key objective for Npower. This announcement will help raise customer expectations in an industry desperately in need of a new approach.”

As part of the marketing tie-up, Homeserve will carry on marketing a range of home emergency policies to Npower’s customers.
