The launch of the tariff will be supported by a marketing camapaign themed around the idea that customers can get their team’s new football shirt for free by signing up to Npower.

Customers that sign up to the “Football Saver” tariff will be rewarded with a £45 voucher to spend at Football League stores around the UK.

A TV campaign will break in August at the start of the season targeting football fans via programmes including Soccer AM.

The campaign will also be supported with significant digital activity using the Football League’s digital channel Football League Interactive, which all 72 clubs subscribe to.

Press and direct marketing activity will complement.

Npower marketing director Kevin Peake says it is the biggest promotion the energy provider has ever done and is a “great affinity deal with football clubs”.

The energy provider is hoping to leverage its Football League sponsorship to sign up new customers.

Npower claims the Football Saver tariff is the cheapest offline tariff available and is 7% cheaper than its standard dual fuel tariff.
