Bibby will take over from interim consumer and marketing director Gary Booker who has been filling in for O2’s former top marketer Cowdry, who left at the end of April to join Camelot as marketing and consumer director.

At Barclaycard, Bibby headed-up the payment provider’s attempts to launch contactless payments, notably the launch of Barclaycard PayTag, as well as its entry in to the fiercely competitive deals market with the launch of sub-brand “bespoke”.

Bibby will join the mobile operator as it attempts to move into non-traditional telephony services such as contactless payments, through its O2 Money entity, and it also prepares to launch 4G services in 2013.

Dunne says: “As we move toward being a digital services company, Nina’s experience and energy will be invaluable in helping us to achieve that vision.”

Bibby adds: “I am excited to redefine the role the business will play for its customers as it evolves into a digital services company.”

Prior to her role at Barclaycard, Bibby served as senior vice president, global brand management for Intercontinental Hotels Group, as well as commercial strategy director for Diageo.
