Olympic chiefs hunt stadium wrap sponsor

London Olympic chiefs are looking for a sponsor to brand the “wrap” around the 2012 Olympic stadium.

London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) wants companies to supply the wrap and will explore “possible sponsorship opportunities” in exchange for sector exclusive marketing rights.

Plans to wrap the stadium were scrapped last year after the Olympic Delivery Authority’s budget was cut as part of the Government’s review of public spending.

LOCOG is inviting both existing and new partners to lodge “expressions of interest” in sponsoring the wrap. Deadline is 18 February.

The sponsors’ logo, however, will only be on display at the start and end of each day of the Games because International Olympic Committee (IOC) rules do not allow branding in venues at games time.
