A new online service has been created to support self-management of screening against the Telephone Preference Service file. TPS-Manage.com, hosted by data supplier Simunix, allows users to upload their phone numbers into a secure, password-protected user account. It then screens numbers against TPS and Corporate TPS registers and flags any registered records.
Once an account has been created, users have complete control over uploading, appending and configuration of the service. The online data system is being launched to help outbound telephone marketers avoid significant fines levied by the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Since the introduction of TPS as a statutory requirement in 1999, the volume of registered numbers has grown to around 15 million. Cold calls to a single number can trigger fines of up to £5,000.
