Open University pitches £3.5m media account

Distance learning body The Open University (OU) is reviewing its £3.5 million media agency account.

The business is currently held by Zed Media while McCann Erickson Birmingham handles the advertising and direct marketing. The latter business is not up for review at present.

OU’s marketing director is David Andrews but the review is being led initially by group programme communications manager Claudia Hitner.

The OU, based in Milton Keynes, is everyone to study and was launched in 1971. It holds charitable status.

Students carry out their studies using a variety of materials including audio and video cassettes, TV programmes, CD-Roms, websites and printed books.
