Orange Romania chief tipped for T-Mobile UK role

Richard-MoatOrange Romania chief executive Richard Moat has been tipped to take on the managing director’s role at T-Mobile in the UK.

Moat, who resigned from his role at Orange last month, is expected to replace Jim Hyde, who left T-Mobile at the end of March.

News of his imminent appointment comes as the mobile operator seeks to find a replacement for its former marketing director Phil Chapman, who is now group marketing director for Kerry Foods.

It is understood that the recruitment process to find Chapman’s replacement will be pushed by Moat once he comes onboard.

Moat has been with Orange Romania since September 2004. He has also held chief executive roles for Orange in Thailand and Denmark. He has worked for Orange for 17 years.

T-Mobile financial director, Lars Nordmark, has been the acting MD since Hyde’s departure.

In January, T-Mobile launched a “guerrilla-style” ad campaign starring 350 dancers. The three-minute execution took up an entire ad break during Celebrity Big Brother. The ad was created by Saatchi & Saatchi.
