PepsiCo launches ad attack on Coke

Soft drinks giant PepsiCo is posting a “mega” poster outside arch-rival Coca-Cola’s UK head office. The Pepsi Max ad asks consumers to “put Pepsi to the taste”.

It will run for the next two weeks on BlowUp Media’s 192 square metre site on the Hammersmith roundabout. The deal was negotiated through MindShare and outdoor specialist Kinetic.

The assault follows PepsiCo’s admission last week that it was caught on the “back foot” by the launch of Coke Zero last summer and needed to focus on innovation. Its cola portfolio consists of core brands Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max in the UK.

It is understood that the launch of a new PepsiCo cola could come as early as this autumn.
