PepsiCo promotes Albanell to Euro beverage marketing vice-president

Pepsi%20cup%2C%20PepsiCoPepsiCo has appointed Juan Albanell as vice-president of beverages marketing in Europe, following the promotion of key marketers in the UK and US.

He replaces David Johnston, who left the role on April 1 to become general manager of Quaker and Tropicana in the UK.

Albanell began his career at PepsiCo in 1988 and has worked in a variety of marketing roles both in Spain and the US, becoming food marketing vice president for Europe in 2005.

In that role, he managed a number of PepsiCo’s snack brands including Lay’s, Cheetos, Quaker, Doritos, SunBites and Duyvis Nuts. According to PepsiCo, the European arm of the company has experienced a double digital growth over the past three years.

Albanell’s promotion follows management changes at PepsiCo, which saw Mary Barnard elevated to the role of global vice-president of new beverage platforms. She has moved to New York to takeover responsibility for the Gatorade and Tropicana brand strategies and business platforms around the world.

Barnard joined PepsiCo in 1997, spending the first eight years with the company in various sales roles, before moving to become general manager for Quaker and Tropicana in 2005.

Johnston has worked for PepsiCo since 1996 in a number of roles in markets including Central Europe and Latin America. He began his career at Britvic, becoming marketing manger for research and development and new products.
