‘Personality’ panel to steer The Express

The Express is talking to senior figures from politics, industry and journalism in an effort to form an editorial advisory panel.

Those approached so far are understood to include personalities spanning a range of political views, to develop the newspaper’s new-found apolitical stance.

It is understood the panel would meet quarterly and advise The Express editor Richard Addis on the stance the paper takes on various issues.

Express marketing director Justin Jameson plays down the significance of signing up left-wing big-hitters. “We represent a spectrum of opinion. The paper features some of the most right-wing writing there is, but it sits alongside columnists like Boy George.”

He says a stance will be taken issue by issue, rather than on a party-political basis.
