Pets at Home helps customers buy their pets the perfect Christmas gift

Pets at Home is hoping to make it easier for its customers to work out what their pets want for Christmas with the launch of a new app.

The DreamScanner app, created by krow, asks users to upload a picture of their pet and enter some simple details. Pushing a “scan” button will offer owners insight into what their pets are dreaming about, from synchronised skydivers to hoovering hovercrafts.

Users can then share those dreams on Twitter using the hashtag #mypetdreamsof or on its Facebook page.

Scott Jefferson, marketing director at Pets at Home, says: “We spend ages trying to think of the perfect gifts for family and friends and it’s the same for our pets. However, it can be difficult to pick up on hints or tips on what our pets want for Christmas. We wanted to help owners out by creating an easy-to-use app which helps them find a suitable present for their pet, while having fun at the same time.”

It may be a bit of fun, but Pets at Home is also hoping the app will raise money for Support Adoption For Pets, an independent charity established by the retailer. App users are given the opportunity to make a donation to help abandoned or homeless pets find a new owner.

Pets at Home appointed Krow to its advertising and communications planning in 2007. It was behind a £2m TV ad campaign last year aimed at showcasing the experience of its staff in handling pets that carried the message: “We know pets by heart.”
