Peugeot UK chief handed corporate relations role

Peugeot UK marketing director Jon Goodman has been given a new role, at PSA Peugeot Citroën’s London office, to be responsible for corporate and external relations for the group. He will be replaced by director of dealer development Andy Sutton, who has spent his entire career with the company.

Goodman has been with the French car manufacturer for 18 years, and was appointed UK marketing director two years ago.

In his new role, Sutton will oversee the launch of three new cars for Peugeot in 2005: the 1007 city car with sliding doors; the 107, a small hatchback on a shared platform with the Toyota Aygo; and a coupé variant of the 407. The launches follow the introduction of the 407 saloon and estate in the UK this year.

The rejuvenation of its line-up follows a 9.7 per cent decline in market share over the past 12 months, leaving Peugeot in fifth place with 6.6 per cent of the UK market according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Peugeot uses Euro RSCG London for its advertising and OMD UK for its media planning. It reappointed McCann Erickson Manchester to its £10m dealership account following a statutory review overseen by the AAR, maintaining a relationship that has lasted for two decades. It also hired communications agency Sledge to carry out pre-launch activity for the 1007.
