P&G appoints UK chief as Ciserani takes up Euro role

Proctor & Gamble has promoted its UK chief Gianni Ciserani to a European role as part of a wider global management reshuffle.

Proctor & Gamble has promoted its UK chief Gianni Ciserani to a European role as part of a wider global management reshuffle.

Ciserani, vice-president and managing director for the UK & Ireland, will now become president of Western Europe and shift his base to Geneva. He will be replaced by Irwin Lee, who has been promoted from vice-president of marketing for Greater China.

Lee, who joined P&G in 1985, has held the role in China for about three years and will take up his new role heading up P&G’s UK and Ireland business on July 1.

The restructure comes as P&G realigns its global business into three new business units – household care, global health and wellbeing, and beauty care (marketingweek.co.uk).

The move will mean that the standalone Gillette business is split up and folded into the beauty care and household care operations.

All the units will report to Susan Arnold, vice-chairman of P&G Beauty & Health, and who is now promoted to president of global business units. Arnold will also assume the additional responsibility for the development and innovation of P&G’s brands.

Other changes include Robert McDonald who has been promoted to the new role of chief operating officer.

McDonald and Arnold will report to P&G chief executive A G Lafley.
