Philips hands top marketer MD job

Philips has promoted its senior marketing director of consumer and lifestyle products in the UK and Ireland, Joanna Elliott, to become managing director of the division.

Philips Design

Elliott has led the 40-strong consumer lifestyle UK marketing team since 2011, when she joined the division as Philips’ first in-situ director-level marketer.

Since then she has helped implement Philips’ increased investment in local marketing and its strategy to move from a rational to a more emotional communications approach.

The company claims to be the UK market leader in electric shaving, female grooming and juicing. It says this is largely attributable to its key “advanced”, “easy to experience” and “designed around you” product marketing propositions.

Elliott replaces Neil Mesher, who will take over the role of managing director of healthcare for UK and Ireland from 1 September.

Philips is currently recruiting for a replacement for the consumer and lifestyle marketing director role.

Elliott says: “Philips innovations have often been the best kept secret and that is certainly something we want to change moving forwards as we try to reach our target of being a leading brand in health and well-being – I look forward to the challenge.”
