Pipex broadband head to leave after sale to Tiscali

Pipex%20HasselhofPipex broadband chief Dominic Crolla is tipped to leave the company following its acquisition by Tiscali. There is doubt about the future of the Pipex marketing team, headed by Peter Turner, after the completion of the £210m deal earlier this month.

It is understood that Crolla, who is managing director of Pipex’s internet business, will not join the Tiscali team. It is not clear whether a decision has been made on Turner, who has only been with Pipex for eight months, but Tiscali’s marketing is handled centrally rather than by individual teams.

A Tiscali spokeswoman denies any decisions have been made about the integration of the two teams.

Tiscali’s marketing dep-artment is headed by managing director of consumer products and marketing Steve Horley. He is responsible for the company’s consumer broadband, dial-up and voice services, as well as consumer marketing, advertising and distribution partnerships. Managing director of media services Neil McCleave handles all media operations, both TV and online.

Turner joined Pipex at the start of this year as marketing director for broadband (MW January 11). He was previously director of marketing communications and services at Wanadoo but left soon after it was rebranded as Orange Home.

Turner joined Wanadoo, then known as Freeserve, in 1999 and held several marketing roles, including head of direct marketing, before being promoted to director of marketing communications and services. Prior to joining Wanadoo, Turner held marketing roles at Alliance & Leicester, Dixons and Sainsbury’s Bank.
