Pizza Hut marketing director moves to KFC

Yum! Restaurants has promoted Pizza Hut’s UK marketing director for restaurants, Claudia Nicholls-Magielsen, to the new role of director of new concepts at KFC.

Nicholls-Magielsen will leave her current role at the end of the month and will report to KFC vice president of marketing, Jennelle Tilling. She has been in the role since 2007 and joined from Procter & Gamble, where she was shopper marketing manager for Tesco UK.

In her new role, she will be responsible for developing new concepts and sales layers like breakfast and beverages. At Pizza Hut, she oversaw the launch of a new pasta menu with the Pasta Hut campaign, the ‘Happy Hour’ value menu, the relaunch of the Salad Station, as well as the “Hut?” campaign and the launch of Tuscani pizzas.

Nicholls-Magielsen says: “I’ve had two and a half great years at Pizza Hut, working with some really talented people on a number of fantastic projects, and will remember my time fondly, but I’m thrilled to be taking on a new role within the YUM! fold. My move is a great example of how Yum! creates opportunities to move between its companies, and I’m really looking to transferring the skills I’ve acquired at Pizza Hut to some exciting new projects at KFC.”

Murray Willows, chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut, adds: “Claudia has been a valued part of the team and done a great job in implementing some of our most successful campaigns. I’d like to thank her for all her hard work and wish her every success in her new role. While we’re all going to miss her at Pizza Hut, I’m pleased that she has taken the opportunity to move within Yum!, as exposing our talented marketers to the full range of our brands is one of the ways we manage to have such an incredible portfolio.”

The company says Nicholls-Magielsen’s replacement at Pizza Hut will be announced in due course.
