Pollard title hands launch brief to Bates

Eve Pollard’s Parkhill Publishing has appointed Bates to handle the creative account for the launch of its new women’s title called Aura.

Zenith Media will buy media for Aura, which is aimed at women aged over 30.

Aura is the second title to come out of Parkhill Publishing, set up by the former tabloid veteran, who edited the Sunday Express. The company launched Wedding Day, a magazine which concentrates on real weddings, last November (MW August 5 1999). Aura will launch in April with an expected print run of 200,000.

Aura enters a fiercely competitive market and will go up against EMAP’s title Red, which recorded a circulation of 180,403 in last week’s Audit Bureau of Circulations figures, up 4.2 per cent year on year.

A spokeswoman for Parkhill says: “Aura aims to provide women over 30 with a sophisticated, contemporary and informed magazine that is at once new and absolutely essential.”

Parkhill has also appointed Richard Burton from The Daily Telegraph as managing editor and Pam Gill, former circulation manager for IPC’s Music and Sport division as circulation director.
