Post Office’s Pete Markey leaves CMO role for Aviva

Post Office chief marketing officer Pete Markey is to leave his post and move to Aviva where he has been appointed UK director of brand communications and marketing.

Markey will be responsible for looking after Aviva’s Good Thinking marketing campaign, taking over from Keith Bibby, who previously held the role on an interim basis. Markey will report to Lindsay Forster, UK customer marketing director at Aviva.

Commenting on his appointment, Forster said: “Pete is an experienced director, having worked across a range of disciplines including marketing, sales, e-business, operations and strategy.

“I’m really excited that we’ve been able to bring such a high calibre talent into the customer marketing leadership team and look forward to working with him.”

Before working as CMO for the Post Office, Markey has held positions at RSA Insurance Group and MORE TH>N, and has also worked with Onetel, the AA and British Gas.

Martin George, chief commercial officer for the Post Office, said: “Pete has done a great job over the last couple of years and made an immense contribution in our on-going efforts to transform the Post Office. We wish him well for the future.

“We will confirm future plans ahead of Pete leaving in May, but I am confident that we have a really strong marketing team in place that will continue to build a marketing approach that develops our brand and ensures customers are at the heart of everything we do.”
