Pretty Polly’s top marketer returns to UB

Pretty Polly marketing director James Turton has left the company after less than six months in the job to return to United Biscuits (UB).

At the same time, the company has appointed Publicis to handle its advertising and define the future direction of the brand. The lingerie company parted company with TBWA/London this year following its decision not to spend any money above the line.

Last year TBWA produced a raunchy press campaign for Pretty Polly’s Almost Naked range which showed a model with her hand down her knickers and featuring the catchline: “Quick, no one’s looking.”

Turton’s departure marks the fourth time a marketing director has left Pretty Polly in the past two years.

Turton, who joined in July, has become head of marketing at UB-owned Young’s Bluecrest Seafoods. He was formerly marketing controller at UB’s McVitie’s Cake Company, which manufactures and markets products such as Jaffa Cakes muffins and holds the licence for Mars’ Galaxy and Milky Way cakes.

At Pretty Polly, Turton replaced Sharon Harrison, who left, without a job to go to, for “personal reasons” (MW January 25).
