Princess Cruises creates senior role due to rapid growth

Carnival UK has created a new marketing director role for Princess Cruises to manage the brand’s steep growth.

It has appointed senior sales manager Paul Ludlow to the position of UK director to oversee sales, marketing and customer service and says that the role is necessary due to the business achieving a “significant scale”.

Ludlow will take up the position in July and will head of brand marketing Pieter van der Schee will be a direct report.

He has been with the company since 2002 and held a variety of sales and marketing positions.

Carnival UK CEO David Dingle says: “Princess Cruises’ business in the UK has achieved a significant scale – with over 100,000 passengers per year – and now in an appropriate time to appoint a senior executive dedicated exclusively to providing the highest level of focus on the brand as business continues to grow.”

Princess Cruises operates a fleet of 17 ships.

Up until now Princess Cruises UK has been overseen by Peter Shanks alongside his main role as managing director and president of Cunard Line. He will now devote himself to the Cunard brand.
