Puma signs Flintoff

Puma, the sportswear brand, has signed a deal with England cricket star Andrew Flintoff. He will front a series of campaigns for the brand across cricket equipment and lifestyle apparel.

The deal, which will run for four years, will see Flintoff play in Puma footwear, use Puma cricket equipment and wear Puma lifestyle ranges off the pitch.

He will also promote the brand’s 2009 collection of cricket equipment, which has been designed with green issues in mind. The new products are free of PVC, which until now has traditionally been used in the production of cricket equipment but had led to complaints from environmental groups because of problems disposing of it.

Last month Puma appointed New York-based Droga5 to its global advertising and marketing account. The brand is expected to run a worldwide campaign using Jamaican gold-medal winning sprinter Usain Bolt, who wore Puma footwear during the Beijing Olympics.
