Somethin’ Else, the independent radio producer, is launching what it claims is the first retail radio station – Radio Music Shop – which will launch on December 14.

The station, which is available on Freeview, Sky and online, will offer listeners the chance to buy the music they are listening to. After each track is played, listeners will be able to buy the album by phone or via the website.

The station will broadcast a wide variety of music including classic rock, pop and indie.

Radio Music Shop chief executive Sonia Alleyne says: "Radio Music Shop is a direct response to some key trends: we know there is huge demand for back-catalogue and classic tracks, and distance buying in all its forms is booming."
