Radio Times task moves to AMV offshoot
Abbott Mead Vickers. BBDO breakaway agency Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy is believed to have won the Radio Times advertising account previously handled by AMV’s below-the-line shop.
Radio Times is understood to have moved its creative account from Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray into Miles Calcraft, which opened its doors last month. A Radio Times spokeswoman refuses to confirm or deny the move.
The agency was set up by AMV. BBDO vice-chairman Jeremy Miles, business development director Helen Calcraft and creatives Paul Briginshaw and Malcolm Duffy.
The 1.4 million circulation magazine began an agency search last month, to create an autumn campaign coinciding with a magazine redesign.
The Radio Times account moved from AMV. BBDO into its below-the-line shop Barraclough Hall, which created a readership survey for the magazine this spring. The agency may retain some below-the-line work.
Ashley Munday, publisher of Radio Times, also saw Barraclough Hall, RPM3 and Leagas Delaney, who declined to pitch. New PHD handles the media planning and buying for Radio Times owner BBC Worldwide.
Radio Times has faced tough competition in the crowded TV listings market since deregulation. It is investigating how to create an electronic format for digital TV listings.
