Rapier lands 3m Health and Safety ‘slips’ task

Rapier has been appointed to handle a 3m Health and Safety Executive (HSE) direct marketing project to reduce the number of injuries in the workplace.

COI Communications issued a brief last month (MW August 4) and held a pitch, which is believed to have included Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel and Claydon Heeley Jones Mason.

Rapier is thought to be working on a campaign entitled “slips and trips”, which will break next year. The COI confirms the appointment and says it has no plans to do any above-the-line advertising at this stage. Zenith Optimedia will handle media planning and buying duties for the project.

Earlier this year, the HSE – a public sector body funded by the Department of Work and Pensions – appointed Zenith Optimedia to handle media planning and buying for a 6m project to change behaviour in the workplace (MW May 12). It is thought the agency pitched against Manning Gottlieb OMD and Starcom MediaVest to win the business.

The HSE is responsible for the regulation of almost all the risks to health and safety arising from work in the UK. The government organisation works alongside the Health and Safety Commission to ensure that risks in the workplace are contained by regulation.
