Reed ignores ginger gibes

The Diary can’t help feeling a tiny bit sorry for Chris Reed, the Advertising Standards Authority’s long-suffering external affairs manager.

The resolutely ginger-haired PR man has spent the week fielding calls from journalists about National Power’s new billboard campaign which, you may recall, pokes rather cruel fun at, er, ginger people.

Unlike namesake Chris Evans, who recently reacted badly to a ginger gibe by bearded election-loser Frank Dobson, Reed is refusing to rise to the bait.

“This sort of thing is about par for the course when you’re ginger,” he commented when The Diary contacted him last week. All together now, ahhhh…
