Remington chief set to make move to Philips

Electronics giant Philips has appointed Remington’s global hair appliances boss Simon Bluring as UK marketing head for its electrical home and personal care division.

Bluring, who takes the new role of marketing director, will report to Gary Prior, vice-president of sales, Europe, and managing director of the Philips domestic appliances and personal care division (DAP).

Previously, marketing duties were headed by Prior and handled on a day-to-day basis by the company’s senior marketing managers.

The Philips DAP division covers five sectors: men’s shaving and grooming; body, beauty and health; food and beverage; home environment care and oral health products. Products include male and female shaving ranges such as the Philishave, as well as kitchen devices such as mixers, coffee makers, liquidisers and toasters.

Bluring joins Philips from Remington Consumer Products, where he held the position of managing director for global haircare at its US office. He previously had been general manager for the company in the UK since 1994, and has also held various roles at Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Bristol Myers Squibb.

Senior marketing managers Justine Guest, Paul Hobden and Lloyd Weston and their teams will report to Bluring.
