RFL seeks headline supporter for Four Nations

The Rugby Football League (RFL) is looking for a headline sponsor for the first Four Nations international tournament.

The sport’s governing body is to offer a sponsorship package to include naming rights and title sponsorship of the competition, which will take place in England and France in October and November.

The package will also include TV arc perimeter boards at all games, secondary branding at stadiums, direct marketing to the RFL database, branding on all playing shirts and online branding.

The inaugural Four Nations, which is between England, Australia, France and New Zealand, will be broadcast live on BBC or Sky Sports and will receive coverage in over 40 countries.

Pete Davies, of marketing search engine Getmemedia.com, which is working with the RFL to find a sponsor, says the chance to be the first sponsor of the Four Nations is an advantage for a brand as it will not inherit any “historical association”.

The RFL has a number of official partnerships, including Engage Mutual Assurance, which sponsors the Super League; the Co-operative Group, which sponsors National Leagues one and two and the conference; and William Hill, the official bookmaker of the RFL.

In February, AG Barr soft drink brand Irn-Bru signed a deal to be the official soft drink of the RFL and the broadcast sponsor of Sky Sports’ coverage of the engage Super League.
