RHM puts 4m Bisto account up for review
RHM is talking to agencies about its 4m Bisto advertising account held by Abbott Mead Vickers. BBDO.
According to a spokesman for the company, the marketing director for Bisto, Saxa and Paxo, Harriet Rhys Williams, has been talking to advertising agencies about different creative approaches. Rhys Williams became marketing director in October of last year.
The company confirms it is conducting a review of its communications strategy. However, the spokesman says incumbents AMV and BBJ Media Services are included in this review.
Media agency Michaelides & Bednash and the Brand House are also working on the project with a brief believed to include a “major brand review”.
“Everything is subject to the completion of the review. We are quite a way away from any pitch,” says the spokesman.
The brand’s most recent advertising ran at the end of last year and presented Julie Walters as a Delia Smith-type character.
AMV won the brief in 1990. The Bisto Kids were axed in 1996.
In 1997 Bisto had a 58 per cent share by volume of the gravy market, which is worth 82m, according to the company.
This was a rise of four per cent on figures for 1996.
