Rita Clifton to chair new brand consultancy
Market Research Society chair and experienced agency hand Rita Clifton is to chair BrandCap, a new consultancy that will advise boards on the importance of branding.
Clifton teamed up with her former Interbrand colleague Manfred Abraham to launch the board-level consultancy. She will chair the firm, while Abraham will be managing partner.
BrandCap is already advising global companies in the retail and media sectors. It is planning a full website launch, likely to reveal clients, on 17 October, along with the publication of a report titled “Branding in the Boardroom”.
Clifton began her career at DMB&B before joining Saatchi & Saatchi in 1986. She progressed in 1992 to director of strategic planning and in 1995 to executive planning director and vice-chairman. During her time at the company she worked with prominent clients including Procter & Gamble, British Airways, Visa International and British Telecom.
Clifton then joined Interbrand as chief executive in 1997, before taking on the role of chairman in 2002, a role that she held until she left last year. She now holds a portfolio of non-executive directorships, including at Nationwide and Bupa, and is president of the Market Research Society.
