Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R has poached Richard Exon, group development director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, to become managing director. The role has been vacant since James Murphy become chief executive in October 2004.

Exon, who joined the agency in 1994 from Ogilvy & Mather, has held the UK and Europe new business role since May 2003. He replaced Nicola Mendelsohn, who left earlier that year to join Grey London. He has also worked on the Audi and Woolwich accounts and was key to the agency picking up the Woolworth’s account in April 2003. He has been on the BBH board since 1999.

His appointment comes just weeks after RKCR/Y&R appointed Chris Hunton, the former managing director of Lowe, to head the global Land Rover account.
