Ronaldo signs as Castrol brand ambassador

Manchester Uniteds Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a deal to become a global ambassador for motor oil company Castrol.

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a deal to become a global ambassador for motor oil company Castrol.

The partnership between FIFA’s current world player of the year and the lubricant brand will run until 2011.

As part of the deal, Ronaldo will be the face of a number of Castrol football initiatives and will front new campaigns for the Castrol Edge and Castrol Power 1 brands.

The deal strengthens Castrol’s relationship with football. It is to be a sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and was a primary partner at the UEFA European Championship last year.

The Portuguese winger is one of the highest profile, and commercially appealing football players in the world. He was named FIFA’s player of the year last season and with his club, Manchester United he has won the World Club Championship and League Cup this season and is set to play in the semi-final of the Champions League.
