Royal Mail and mailing houses team up to give DM boost

Royal Mail has forged a partnership with mailing houses that aims to increase the efficiency of high volume direct mail campaigns.

Representatives from several mailing houses, which handle about 90% of all Royal Mail bulk mailings, will join representatives from the postal service under the Strategic Mail Partnership initiative, to co-ordinate efforts in developing products and services, and ways to improve processes across the entire mailing house industry.

The partnership will be chaired by veteran direct marketer and former Postwatch vice-chairman Judith Donovan CBE.

A direct mail campaign will back the launch, targeting senior mailing house executives in an effort to encourage membership. The partnership will also hold events nationwide such as regional roadshows and an annual conference.

In the article “How to keep your spirits upmarket” (MW 14 January) we incorrectly stated that Courvoisier is owned by Beam Global Spirits & Wine, after previously being managed through Maxxium Worldwide and Allied Domecq. In fact Maxxium still manages the brand, and is part of the global sales and distribution alliance between Beam Global Spirits and Wine Inc and The Edrington Group.
