Ryanair, the low cost airline, has introduced third-party advertising across its site for the first time.
Ryanair has appointed ad sales house Ad2One to handle its ad sales to help maintain low prices.
Ad2One will be responsible for selling standard advertising such as banners and skyscrapers and will look to attract mobile and FMCG brands.
It comes as the airline has redesigned its home page across all of its country sites to create a cleaner look.
The home page was redesigned in-house.
Michael Cawley, deputy CEO and COO of Ryanair, said, “The revenue Ryanair earns from online advertising will help defray our website costs and ensure that Ryanair continues to offer passengers Europe’s guaranteed lowest fares.”
Cawley said Ryanair will look to introduce advertising across its European markets.
Ryanair last week introduced an in-flight mobile phone service across 20 of its planes (nma.co.uk 20 February).
Ad2One also represents Lonely Planet, Expedia and Ebay.
