Ryanair names UK marketing manager
Low cost airline Ryanair has recruited Laszlo Tamas as its UK sales and marketing manager.
He replaces John Booty, who held the position for five months. It is not known if Booty has a job to go to.
Booty replaced sales Bridget Dowling, who left in January to become marketing chief for Travelodge Ireland.
Tamas is a former sales and marketing manager for Lufthansa and Wizzair and takes up responsibility for sales and marketing activity across Ireland and he will work with airports and tourist bodies.
The airline has just abolished the use of traditional check-in desks at airports and moved the check in service entirely online. Ryanair will now halve check in fees from £10 to £5 per person each flight, other than on promotional offers.
Passengers who arrive at the airport without their own pre-printed check-in boarding card from the internet will be charged £40 (40 euro) for a so-called “boarding card re-issue fee”.
The airline introduced third-party advertising across its site for the first time in February and appointed ad sales house Ad2One to handle its ad sales to help maintain low prices.
